One of the very important things to do to win battles in Clash Royale is to start with a well thought out strategy. Simply playing the right cards will not fetch results unless you can think through and plan the game. Of the many problems a gamer comes across is to counter splash troops in Clash Royale who can cause a lot of damage. There is, however, a simple Clash Royale strategy in place to counter these splash troops.
One way of nullifying the enemy splash units is to surround them with your troops. There are two big benefits of surrounding the enemy units with your troops. The first advantage being that you render the enemy splash units ineffective when surrounding them. The next advantage is that you eliminate the walking distance of each one of your separate units.
Clash Royale Strategy To Defend Splash Troops
Surrounding Enemy Troops
Surrounding enemy splash troops can be done using three cards – Barbarians, Goblins, and Skeletons. There are separate strategies for positioning these three cards. We’ll take you through them one by one.
- Barbarians – They are highly durable and have enough HP to last during a longer battle. It is advisable to use them to surround enemy splash units. This will conserve the HP of Barbarians and also set up a quick counterattack when the enemy splash unit is destroyed. However, never use Barbarians to surround Bomber, Dark Prince, Valkyrie and Dragon units. It is safe to engage them at a distance and pull using archers or goblins.
- Goblins – Since Goblins cost only 2 Elixir, they are cost effective and can deal a lot of damage to the enemy units. If there is a single witch approaching your tower, engage with Goblins to destroy the witch. At any point in time, the witch can only attack one side and hence the other Goblins cause damage. Goblins are especially effective against the ice witch who needs two shots to destroy one goblin.
- Skeletons – Skeletons can be used to distract and destroy a single witch. They cost only 1 Elixir and can be used to surround the single wizard from all sides. While the witch targets one skeleton, the rest can cause a lot of damage.
Engaging from a Distance (For Exceptional Enemy Units)
There are certain units against which the surround technique doesn’t work. These enemy units have the ability to splash on more than one sides. For example, it is unsafe to surround the Bomber unit with troops since the Bomber splashes in three-fourth of its sides. Also, Dark Prince, Giant Skeleton, and P.E.K.K.A are extremely powerful, there is no point in surrounding them.
In such a case, it is safe to engage these enemy units from afar. For example, you can use a couple of archers to distract the enemy splash units. As one archer engages with the enemy, the other can buy time to wander away while still engaging. All through this time, your towers can target the enemy splash unit to decrease their HP. This strategy applies for Valkyrie and Dragon as well.
Hope you loved the strategy. Keep working on it and let us know how it worked for you!
